In Trump's First Year, US Democracy Proved again to be Resilient

 Karl Popper at the end of his life used to mention the removal of President Nixon from power which happened without bloodshed as the best example of how a democracy should work⁽¹⁾. Popper emphasized that democracy is not about "who" rules rather it is about "how" the state rules. He reminded us that the rulers of Communist and Fascist states could not even be removed by bloodshed, let alone to allow people to remove them from power by peaceful legal means. During the last year, the attempts with the objective of removing Donald Trump from power in the U.S. is another example of how a democracy should work. The press was totally free to criticize Trump and disclose all details of his ascent to power. Those who want to remove President Trump are freely challenging him and are able to take legal action. It does not matter whether one supports those who want to remove Trump or not, what has been happening openly in the U.S. for a year now is one of the best examples of a democracy in action.
